Fu Baoshi was greatly inspired by the ancient painter Shi Tao, whose poems often guided his creative themes. He excelled at blending poetic mood with bold brushwork, forming his unique and passionate artistic style. Fu Baoshi uses loose, vigorous brushstrokes to depict swirling red leaves in the autumn wind. His distinctive ink-wash technique creates a misty, poetic and dynamic landscape atmosphere. As a classic masterpiece by Fu Baoshi, it holds high market recognition and has achieved remarkable auction results.
Craft & Process
Traditional Chinese ink wash painting on handmade xuan paper. Fu Baoshi applies bold, flowing brushstrokes with layered ink tones to render autumn mountains and swirling red leaves. He uses moist, diluted ink for misty landscapes and concentrated dark ink for tree branches, creating a dynamic, poetic scene in one continuous composition. The finished work is mounted following traditional Chinese scroll mounting techniques.
