
黄宾虹
Huang Binhong (1865-1955), originally named Huang Zhi, was a master of modern Chinese landscape painting . Born in Jinhua, Zhejiang, he devoted his life to painting, art education and research . Influenced by the Xin'an School, his early works featured light and elegant brushstrokes. In his late years, he developed a distinctive style characterized by rich, layered ink washes, known as "Black Binhong". He taught at prestigious art schools and authored important works like Principles of Painting. After 1949, he served as Vice-Chairman of the East China Branch of the Chinese Artists' Association. A master of brush and ink, he remains one of the most influential figures in modern Chinese art.
