The Story

Lake and Mountain Scenery was created in Huang Binhong’s late years, inspired by the misty lakes and hills of Jiangnan, especially Hangzhou’s West Lake area.It reflects his mature "black, dense, thick, heavy" style, developed through decades of traveling and studying ancient landscapes. Huang Binhong was a master of modern Chinese landscape painting.He devoted his entire life to exploring ink art and drew inspiration from the natural scenery of Jiangnan. Huang Binhong uses layered ink washes and delicate brushstrokes to show the tranquility of lakes and mountains.The work highlights his unique style of rich, dense ink and profound artistic charm. This painting is highly collectible as a classic work of Huang Binhong’s later landscape style.
