The Story

This painting is a quintessential example of Qi Baishi’s iconic plant-and-insect works, titled Qiu Se Jia (translating to “Autumn Scenery is Beautiful”). The inscription on the left confirms the title and the artist’s signature. The maple leaves are rendered with soft, expressive pink-red brushstrokes, evoking the warmth of autumn.
